A design architect accredited in building conservation, Miriam has 20 years of experience in the repair and adaptive reuse of historic sites. Working in some of the most sensitive historic environments in Europe, North America and South Asia, she assists clients in adaptation for new uses, best-practice conservation and heritage management. She has particular experience sensitively adapting historic museums and landscapes to meet modern visitor needs. From castles to coal mines to royal estates, she seeks to secure the past in the service of the present towards a sustainable future.
Professional
Miriam is an architect and historic buildings consultant working in both the UK and USA. She serves on the Advisory Board of the New York Landmarks Conservancy. Miriam was a Principal at Beyer Blinder Belle Architects & Planners LLP in New York where she led numerous high-profile projects. She previously worked in the Creative Reuse Team at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, UK. After completing two masters degrees in architectural design at the University of Edinburgh, she worked on new and historic building projects across Scotland before participating in sustainable heritage management projects for the German Development Service in Nepal.

Lecturing & Writing
Miriam is a lecturer and critic at the universities of Harvard, Columbia, New York and Pennsylvania in the US, and Bath and Edinburgh in the UK. She regularly presents at conferences, public lectures and building tours. She is a regular contributor to architectural heritage journals in the US and Europe.
